How it works: whenever a star has a matching star somewhere later in the same line (e.g. *important*), that's a WhatsApp bold pair — both stars are removed, leaving just important. If a star has no matching partner on that line (e.g. *Note: or Compulsory* used as a remark marker), it's left exactly as it is. Stars never pair across separate lines.
